Haha!! I felt exactly the same with this movie, I can’t believe that I sat through it for *that* ending – pointless and flat, much like Anne Hathaway’s attempt at a Yorkshire accent in the film!
I agree. The basic premise was kind of interesting but they just didn’t do anything with it, so it was kind of an empty film with the simple emotional depth of a 12 year old kid.
And I agree with you about the accent. I love Anne Hathaway as I have a well documented thing for brunettes but even I couldn’t overlook that accent attempt.
If it makes you feel better I went out and bought the book only to be upset by the ending as well

And to be fair, I actually enjoyed this film. At certain points I was really into it but there were too many half baked ideas and half fleshed out ideas for me for me to say I loved it.
